Short kitchen stools

They are exactly what I needed for extra seating around a small kitchen table for when guests come over.  Easy to put together, really sturdy and super low profile for my small kitchen nook.  They also give the table a nice Asian flair which I love. I've searched other sites and this was the best price.  Not as ""shiny"" as I thought, which is fine.  Slightly muted color.

The product seemed to be well-reviewed and I had high hopes for it.  But the product was not what I expected.  I am keeping it only because after the trouble I went through assembling it, I wasn't going to go through the trouble of disassembling it for return.  The color is not cherry.  It is just rubber-wood.  There is no hint of red in the staining.  And on top of that, on the seat of the stool are these 4 black squares, that are there for no discernible reason.  Please see my photos where I show the top of a stool that shows these 4 squares, and then a close-up of one of those black squares.  Next came the assembly.  This was one of the hardest-to-assemble pieces of furniture I have ever encountered even though the assembly had very few steps.  Everything seemed to be misaligned and had to be forced.  I managed to assemble one stool after a lot of effort, and then I realized that on the next one, one of the holes was so misaligned there was no way to screw in the leg however much I tried.  Eventually, I had to get my drill and drill out a completely new hole about a quarter of an inch away from the original hole to get the hole in the leg to align with the hole in the seat.  After all this assembly, and after tightening the screws as much as is humanly possible, there are still gaps between the legs and the seat as you can see in the photos I have attached.  Luckily, these gaps are not visible since they are under the seat, but it shows the overall quality of this item.  The stools seem sturdy, but only time will tell if they will stand up to use.  Oh, and one more thing:  the bottoms of the legs don't have any felt pads or anything like that.  If you have wooden floors like I do, you might want to get something like that before you scratch up your floor with these stools.  I have never bought wooden furniture that did not come with padding for the feet.  Overall, very disappointed in the purchase.  Not recommended.

Very disappointed in this purchase

Big scratch on the seat top of one stool which had been covered up with some sort of gross black wax which immediately came off and revealed the scratch.  That stool also has two deep grooves in it which were painted over.  The other one has one deep groove which has also been painted over.  Not easy to put together either, holes drilled wrong and you would have to be Hercules to screw these screws in with the provided allen wrench because the holes were not drilled out properly.  We had to use a powerful drill which we are lucky to have.  Once we got it together though they seem to be fairly sturdy.  They are heavy though so if you require a light stool, this is not the stool you want.
